Energy Audit Survey

Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative realizes that energy costs for everyone are higher than ever before, and we want to help you manage your costs while keeping your home comfortable.

To identify the largest inefficiencies in your home, first take a look at the age and efficiency of your heating and cooling equipment, hot water heater, and other large appliances, especially your refrigerator. Weatherization is the next most cost-effective retrofit for a drafty home. A small investment in weather stripping and caulk go a long way! Another easy way to lower your electric bill is to switch your incandescent light bulbs to LEDs.

Of course, the cheapest way for you to save on your electric bill is to get in the habit of conserving energy! Turn off indoor and outdoor lights if they are not in use. Unplug appliances or switch off power strips that don’t need to remain on. Remember that saving hot water saves energy; install a low-flow showerhead or water heater blanket, turn your water heater thermostat down, fix leaky plumbing and only wash full laundry and dishwasher loads.

Plumas-Sierra has many resources on our Conservation Tips & Tools page to assist you with your home energy usage questions.
